FUNERAL
Artists and curators Mike Bancroft and Evan Plummer completed the series of three installations at Garage Spaces with a performance that posed a dialogue on the culture and commerce of death in contemporary America. Garage Spaces was reincarnated as a funeral home/parlor to mourn the “death” of Garage Spaces shows. furnishings and object-based installations transformed the space into three areas: the parlor with its "tip basket" and table littered with funeral programs and obituaria, the undertaker's office, meticuolously organized and bathed in a lukewarm blue haze from the video installation above, and the viewing room, a cold and futuristic space lit from below in which there laid a coffin where Plummer gave "a somber performance" using his still body.
